SDP repeats call for opposition unity

The SDP repeated its call for opposition unity in order to bring about democratic change in Singapore. Dr Chee Soon Juan made the call during a session with opposition leaders and civil society actors on Saturday.

The discussion took place at a seminar co-organised by the Council of Asian Liberals and Democrats (CALD) and Liberal International (LI) last Saturday. Foremost in the minds of the participants was how to get the opposition to work out a common strategy to fight the PAP in the forthcoming general elections.

Chee invites Bilveer Singh for meeting to correct inaccuracies

Dr Chee Soon Juan has written to Associate Professor Bilveer Singh of the National University of Singapore (NUS) to clarify points that the academic had written in his book Politics and Governance in Singapore. The book is being used to teach a political science module and a student in that class had brought this to Dr Chee's attention through his Facebook.

Prof Singh wrote that Dr Chee had ousted Mr Chiam from the SDP. This is untrue. Dr Chee has written an extensive rebuttal to this point and he urged the NUS political scientist to revise the text in his book to "accurately reflect the facts."

Democrats blanket Bukit Panjang with flyers

The Singapore Democrats have been going about the Bukit Panjang housing estate - block-to-block, house-to-house - distributing flyers to residents, stepping up our campaign efforts in preparations for the upcoming elections against the incumbent PAP MP Dr Teo Ho Pin.

While we continue to strengthen our online presence and expand our reach on the Internet, we are making sure that our work on the ground also intensifies. With the expansion within our ranks, our campaign in the constituency has also increased steadily in recent years.
